“Reunited” is a series of images that explore the relationship between fallen leaves and barren trees on multiple levels. Visually, I am using reflections to “reunite” the fallen leaves with the trees from whence they came. Metaphorically, the layering of the trees and leaves help tell the story of a natural separation, and an unnatural rejoining. Taken further, the barren trees in the background evoke emotions of loss or of grief, or aging and the passage of time that cannot be reversed. The leaves represent a false freedom, a temporary excitement (color) of independence. Spiritually, there is symbolism that though our sinful nature leads to separation from our heavenly parent, we are adopted heirs that can be reunited to the source of Life. We wait to become alive again.
